Footboard Menace!!

This is a common problem faced by most of the commuters travelling in city buses. The culprits for this problem are young men. Most of them are students persuing their studies. They are not understanding how grave this can become. Standing on the footboard causes inconvenience to people to get in and get down from the bus. They completely block the way of the public at the foodtboard. Eventhough there is lot of empty space inside the bus and empty seats available, these guys never get inside and sit, they just prefer to stand at the footboard. It is ok to stand at the footboard if the bus is packed to the full, but it should be preferred rarely incase of emergency or if the buses movement is less.

Even if seats are not available and there is space in the aisle to stand, then they should prefer standing. This way it does not cause any inconvenience to others.

As the footboard area is packed, persons standing in that area cannot feel what is stolen from their pockets. Some of the people are taking advantage of this situation and are trying to steal the valuables from the people.  I don't think it is necessary to tell the young people it is not correct to stand at the footbaord, because these people are well educated and they need to use their commonsense to judge good and bad. Since these people are not bothered about others inconvenience, strong steps must be taken by the RTC.

RTC should give full rights to the conductor to fine whoever is standing at the footboard. If the bus is very rush and is unavaoidable for few people to stand at the footboard, then fine can be avoided. But if the bus is free and if the conductor finds anyone standing then this rule should be applied and concerned people should be fined accordingly. This rule if implemented footboard menace can be brought down considerably.

Footboard Menace is not observed only in buses, but now it is also observed in Metro trains. Even here young people of late stand at the entrance of train compartment and block the way. Strict action must be taken by the Railway board as well to prevent this menace. Imposing fine is the only way to bring it down.
